Unlike our printed keepsakes, which are illustrated individually by our team, illustrated digital stories will use an automated illustration partner, so we can create pictures quickly. That means the style may not always match the keepsakes exactly, though we're actively working to bring the two closer together.
Because illustration is real computing work, on top of the story itself, these stories will take a little longer to generate than our 45-second text-only stories, and pricing will reflect that too.

Every keepsake starts as one of your child's digital stories. If it's your very first story with us, it's free. Otherwise, we take £1.79 to create the digital, text-only version first, which you can then perfect with up to five revisions before paying the remaining balance to bring it to print. Every version is saved as you go, so if pass three turns out better than pass four, you can simply go back to it.
You'll also tell us how each character should look and feel, and we'll show you exactly what we're planning to use before a single page is illustrated, so there are no surprises.
Each keepsake is eight illustrated pages, with its own story title, a front cover, and a dedication page for you to write yourself, so it opens with your own words before your child's story even begins.
Once you're happy, one of our team builds your book individually, page by page. It's slow on purpose, a little slower than a factory line, because this one isn't going through a factory line. From there it goes to our print partner. In most cases, plan for at least a week before it's in the post, we'll always give you a lead time and try to beat it.
Because each book is built individually, once production starts we can't make changes, so it's worth reading everything through carefully first. And because it's a personalised, made-for-your-child product, we're not able to offer refunds once it's gone to print. Take your time on that final check, it's exactly why we let you refine it as much as you like beforehand.
One more honest note: your child's character is a watercolour illustration built from what you tell us, warm and true to them in spirit, but a painted likeness, not a photograph.
