These terms govern your use of Stories That Remember ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, you agree to them.
You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account. Stories That Remember is designed for parents, guardians, and family members to create stories about the children in their lives — children do not create accounts, sign up, or use the questionnaire directly.
By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that the information you provide is accurate.
Stories That Remember generates personalised story content using the details you provide about your child, via AI-assisted generation. Depending on the product tier:

You provide information about your child so we can generate a story. By submitting it, you confirm you have the authority to share that information about the child (as their parent, guardian, or with appropriate permission) and that it's accurate to the best of your knowledge.
You grant us a licence to use what you share solely to generate your story and, where you've consented, to maintain your child's profile for future stories. We don't use your family's information to train third-party AI models beyond what's needed to generate your story via our AI provider, and we don't use it for advertising.
The finished story we generate for you is yours to read, print, and keep for personal and family use. The underlying system, prompts, and technology that create it remain our intellectual property.

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, particularly anything touching child safety. Section 6 explains what happens in more detail.
6.1 Every story is checked by our safety systems before you see it. If a request or story is flagged, we may hold the story back, ask you to reword your request, or pause your account while a person reviews it. Repeated flags (for example, three within 30 days) may lead to your account being paused.
6.2 If we reasonably believe you have used, or tried to use, Stories That Remember to create sexual, exploitative or abusive content involving a child, to groom, frighten or harm a child, or to find out information that could be used to locate or harm a child, we may suspend or close your account immediately and without notice.
6.3 In those circumstances we may report the matter to, and share relevant information with, the police, the National Crime Agency, children's social care or other appropriate authorities. We may do this without telling you first where telling you could put a child at risk or harm an investigation.
6.4 If your account is under review for a serious safeguarding concern, we will keep the relevant information (including your account details, what you told us, your story requests, any stories or illustrations created or held back, and our records of what happened) for longer than our normal retention periods. We will not delete it when you ask us to, or when you close your account, for as long as we need it to protect children, to help the authorities, or to establish or defend legal claims. Our Privacy Policy explains how long this can be.
6.5 Decisions to close an account permanently, or to report someone to an authority, are made by a person, never by an automated system alone. You can ask us to review a decision by emailing safeguarding@storiesthatremember.com within 30 days. We may not be able to explain our reasons where that could put a child at risk.
6.6 If we pause your account in error, we will restore it, along with anything you had paid for and not yet used.

Stories That Remember is an entertainment and keepsake product. It is not a substitute for professional childcare, educational, psychological, or safeguarding advice. If you're worried about a child's safety or wellbeing, please contact an appropriate professional or authority directly rather than relying on anything in this product. We aim to keep the service running reliably but don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Story generation depends on third-party AI infrastructure that is occasionally unavailable; we'll do our best to make this rare and to let you retry without losing your work.
We provide Stories That Remember "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for things that can't legally be limited, such as death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, which permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy. The only exception is information we must keep under Section 6.4 (child safety and misuse), or where the law requires us to keep it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, particularly Sections 5, 6 or 7.
We may update these terms as the product develops. We'll update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes, let account holders know directly.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
